The Effects of Integrating Programmed Instruction and Journal Writing to Develop Learning Outcomes of Grade 10 Students

ABSTRACT

The purposes of this action research aimed to investigate mathematics learning achievement by integrating programmed instruction and journal writing of grade 10 students; and to explore students’ satisfaction towards integrating programmed instruction and journal writing on Trigonometric Ratio of grade 10 students. The participants in this study consisted of 42 grade 10 students studying Fundamental Mathematics course M 31102 on the topic “Trigonometric Ratio” in the second semester, academic year 2014 at Satrinonthaburi School. The research instruments employed in this study included programmed instruction and journal writing and questionnaire. The research employed programmed instruction and journal writing to investigate the effects of integrating programmed instruction and journal writing on Mathematics achievement, and questionnaire to explore students’ satisfaction towards integrating programmed instruction and journal writing on Trigonometric Ratio lesson. The results of this study revealed that programmed instruction and journal writing on the topic Trigonometric Ratio improve student’s achievement in Mathematics and students had high level of satisfaction in learning by integrating programmed instruction and journal writing.
