Review Process

IJIRHSS depends on a double-blind peer-review process in selecting papers for publication. Peer reviewers are chosen based in their expertise and experience in the fields covered by the journal’s theme. The editors may add new reviewers from time to time to improve the journal’s standing.

Typically, the review process will be performed according to the following steps:

  1. The IJIRHSS editorial board will select candidates from the pool of papers that have been accepted for presentation in previous or upcoming ICSAI.org conferences. This is normally done by going through previous conference proceedings or full papers submitted for upcoming events.
  2. The Editor-in-Chief will finalize the list of papers to be reviewed. If selected, an invitation will be sent to authors. Papers will only be sent to the reviewers once the author’s permission has been obtained.
  3. The manuscript will then be sent anonymously to two external reviewers for marking and comments. Typically, a reviewer has about three weeks to return the result to the editors. Reviewers are expected to fill up an evaluation form as well as give feedback or opinion concerning the content of the paper. Comments could be intended for the author or to be read by the editorial board only.
  4. Upon receiving the result from the external reviewers, the Editor-in-Chief  will decide whether:
    • To accept the paper for publication.
    • To return the paper to the author for further improvement. (Authors will receive an email containing the paper’s marks and anonymous reviewer comments.)
    • To reject the paper.
  5. Upon receiving the review results, the authors are expected to submit an updated paper. Normally authors are given two weeks to complete the amendments.
  6. Upon receiving the new paper, it will be re-evaluated by the editorial board. The original reviewers or the author may be consulted for clarification.
  7. Based on all inputs received, the Editor-in-Chief will decide whether :
    • To accept the paper for publication.
    • To send the paper for another round of reviews (with different reviewers) this repeating  Step 3.
    • To reject the paper.
  8. If the decision is to accept, the paper will be reformatted to suit the journal’s publication style. The authors may be required to respond to further enquiries from the editorial board and make more corrections.
  9. The Editor-in-Chief will email a proof to the corresponding authors for their final approval. At this point, only important changes are accepted.
  10. Upon receiving the final version from the authors, the papers will be queued for publication in an issue of IJIRHSS. An official letter informing of the decision to publish will be sent to the author via email.
