Dr. Jeongmi Um currently serves as a faculty member and sociolinguist in the faculty of economics of KwanseiGakuin University, Hyogo, Japan since 2003 after studying in the master /doctoral course of Language Information Science, Graduate school of arts, Tokyo university. Her research interests cover the fields of sociolinguistics and comparative linguistics. She has authored various research publications and presented in many conferences all over the world. She was invited as a visiting researching fellow at SOAS of London university, England in 2007 and Kyujangkak Research Center of Seoul National university in 2013. And also she joint several other researching projects in Europe and Asia. She also has made a great contribution to Korean language education as an Examination Committee of Japan University Entrance Examination Center for many years.
