ABSTRACT

This study focused on the framework of a proposed capability maturity model for a student which was inspired by combining the characteristics of maturity levels from Capability Maturity Model for Software Development and the elements of 21st Century Learning Framework. Specifically, this study aimed to: 1) analyze existing capability and learning maturity frameworks, which can be used as a basis for the framework of the student capability maturity model; 2) design a framework for the Student Capability Maturity Model (S-CMM) which will help manage students skills according to what is expected of them shaped by the needs of the industry and the skills and abilities they have to gain in order to prepare them for employment or their field of expertise; and 3) apply the student capability maturity model framework in the design of the Brahman E-Portfolio. The design of the framework was established using data gathering technique through research on related studies and theories that was anchor on the concept of integrating the Capability Maturity and the Learning Maturity Models and the focused group discussion. This framework assesses the capability of the student according to the Learning Maturity Model and gauges the level of maturity that the student attained for each level. The Student Capability Maturity Model can now be used as a framework in the design of an application in determining the maturity level of the student to determine his readiness in the workforce environment.
